Sure, in the decade I've been crafting images I've drooled over equipment (still do, honestly), wishing it were mine. And while equipment can change the outcome of an image, it's not the end all be all. Case in point, this image...
Here's what I used to craft this image:
- Discontinued, 9 year old Canon 50d - $220
- 50mm lens - $125
- 2 LEDpro lights - $160
- Printer paper as a diffuser
- Tripod - $30
(mine was more expensive, but I've used a cheaper one plenty of times to the same effect)
I used a wee bit over $500 worth of equipment to make this image. The fact that it's a lot to some doesn't get lost on me. The point is:
We don't need the thousands invested in gear to become a better photographer.
Perhaps we can use our constraints to push us to learn more. To explore. To invent.
