Easter Egg Paper Craft

After falling in love with my pumpkin luminary, I knew there was a way to use that baseline to make a paper craft for an Easter Egg. With much trail and error, I love her.

Tools

Step 1

  • Find the score marks, and lay those table down

  • Outline shape with glue - thin line, close to inner edge

  • Lay vellum on top

  • Press down along glue

  • Repeat for all

Step 2

  • Lay 4 rectangles next to each other

  • Notice score marks - align those

  • Two score marks are closer together, those are the top

  • Bend the top and bottom most score mark, away from you

  • Lay octagon down

  • Glue bottom fold under the octagon, wrapping overlap

  • Follow North, South, East, West pattern shown on left

Step 3

Build the interior support

  • Glue the top bend to the top of the smaller octagon

  • Follow North, South, East, West pattern

  • Find two sets of thicker rectangles

  • Bend each in half

  • Bend at scores away from you

Step 4

Add support

  • The shorter horizontal supports go up top

    • Look for the score marks

    • Add dot of glue above marks

    • Add glue to support

    • Wrap two neighboring legs

  • The longer horizontal supports go close to the bottom

    • Look for score marks

    • Don’t glue the same neighbors as short supports

    • Add glue dot above score marks

    • Add glue to support

    • Wrap two neighboring legs

Step 5

Time to curl

  • Use a dowel rod; hold flat against the table

  • Lay Easter egg stripe vellum side up

  • Starting from the widest part, pull the thinnest part of the stripe towards you - ending only a inch or two down

  • The rest of the stripe, curl slightly with your finger

  • Bend the tabs on the top and bottom away from you

Step 6

  • Place your Easter Egg stripes in desired pattern, vellum up

  • Find unused octagon

  • Glue all the bend top taps to the octagon

Step 7

  • Take central support and make it upside down

  • Align octagons and glue

  • Wait for glue to dry

Step 8

  • Keep craft upside, glue each tab onto the top of the big octagon

  • Glue in opposite pairs to keep tension evenly distributed

Step 9

Make the bow

  • Use a dowel rod, and curl the 3 main pieces

  • Glue bow center together

  • Then stack and glue bows together

  • Wrap with rectangle

  • Glue stack on ribbon base

Step 10

  • Glue ribbon on top of the egg

    • Tip: use the dowel rod to apply internal opposing pressure

And you’re done!!!
